A great brunch cruise in Boston aboard the Odyssey!

We had the opportunity to go on the Odyssey Brunch Cruise a few weeks ago. We had a great time and would recommend it for people celebrating a special occasion (anniversary, birthday or mother’s day) or if you get the chance to have a romantic morning out.

First we got to the Odyssey dock right behind the Boston Harbor Hotel just before the 12 pm boarding time. We had our picture taken before boarding with the boat in the background and were greeted by one of the ship’s crew. Once aboard, we were taken to our table and then had an hour to walk around the boat and eat before the boat left the dock.

We met the chef and food and beverage director who gave us an overview of the menu as well as explained the new Bloody Mary bar which they were debuting that morning. We enjoyed the food and live music, although they weren’t the best live musicians we’ve ever heard, it was still a nice complement to the cruise rather than canned music from an iPod.

One of the things Dave thought was cool was that you could go all around the ship and even to the top deck and see the planes overhead as they prepared to land at logan. We were also treated to a private tour of the captains deck (which you have to request) but it was a pretty cool view!

Emily thought that hanging outside on the top of the boat was one of the best parts because it such a nice day out, there was a beautiful breeze and it was very relaxing.

The food options were varied as you had the chance to eat breakfast, lunch and dessert, so just be sure to have an empty stomach before going!

Lastly when you disembark you have the option to purchase your photo that they took at the beginning of the cruise as well as the crew says goodbye and offers chocolate dipped strawberries which was a really nice way to end such a great morning.

We were graciously given a certificate for dinner for two aboard the Odyssey to give away to one of our lucky readers! Please enter using the rafflecopter widget below and good luck!

NOTE: We were provided with two complimentary tickets aboard the Odyssey Cruise to facilitate this review as well as a voucher to give away to one of our readers. There was no promise made of a positive review. All opinions expressed are our own.

Great time at the Mystic Aquarium

We had an awesome time at the Mystic Aquarium this week! We were guests of the aquarium and had the chance to check out the exhibits as well as a special Kidsploration performance that is being held three times this summer. We had the chance to check out the performance first and there were lots of families in the Foxwoods Marine Center auditorium enjoying the music with lots of kids dancing around. This is definitely great for families.

Next we looked at the Titanic exhibit. This exhibit has many facts and details about the Titanic's fate and uses some really cool technology to enhance the experience. We enjoyed reading up on all that they had to say about it.

We walked around the outside exhibits and saw beluga whales, seals and penguins. There are lots of exhibits to see and things to learn. We saw the sea lion show in the marine theater. This show seemed geared towards children between 5 and 9. Our daughter was nervous about the noise and then adjusted to it and was fine.

We were treated to the 4D performance of Spongebob Squarepants and thought it was pretty cute. It was very entertaining. There were bubbles flying all over and jellyfish galore. You even felt like they were coming by which got lots of laughs from the crowd.

Inside the gallery they had some pretty neat exhibits that included turtles, fish, jellies and even the seals from the performance before. We watched some kids play with the seals and then we started to smile at them and they started reacting and playing too. It was pretty cool.

Happy World Oceans Day!

We had a family outing into Boston to celebrate World Oceans Day this past Sunday (even though it's actually today!). A dedicated to celebrating our oceans. We started off by going on a Duck Tour that left the New England Aquarium and toured the North End, Science Park, the Charles River and Charlestown. Unfortunately, it was a rainy, gloomy day so the protective window coverings were down, but otherwise it was a blast!

After the tour, we explored what the aquarium had set up for World Oceans day with various tables to learn about different aspects of marine life. We sampled some amazing smoked salmon from Bristol Bay Alaska. We learned about soil composting and Right Whales.

We headed into the aquarium for an awesome afternoon of visiting with Myrtle the Turtle, touring the Giant Ocean Tank, seeing some seals, observing an octopus, reaching for Rays and checking out the Jellies. One of the sets of jellyfish, Leidy's Comb Jellyfish, lit up like their own 1970's disco party through bioluminescence.

Thanks for such a great day in the city! Happy World Oceans Day!!!
